The 4 best dinners in a Mountain hut in the Fassa Valley

Dinner at a mountain hut in the Fassa Valley is an unmissable experience of a mountain vacation in the heart of the Dolomites.

Departure is planned for 7 p.m. from Passo Sella, and with a snowcat or tracked quad you will reach the hut in about 10 minutes from which you can admire the snowy panorama of the Dolomites.

The lodge offers a choice of a 3- or 4-course menu consisting of both traditional and more elaborate dishes, while drinks will be excluded.

Among the dishes offered you can find beef carpaccio with arugula and potato chips, tagliatelle with venison ragout and berries, or tagliata with wedge potatoes and crispy vegetables. Suggestions for the little ones are also available.

Dinner ends about 10 p.m. and you will be escorted back to the meeting point.

Let yourself be transported by a snowmobile piloted by an experienced guide to a typical cabin in Val di Fassa, one of the most beautiful valleys in the Dolomites in Trentino.

The experience is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. in Campitello di Fassa, where a guide will be waiting for you to take you to the hut by snowmobile along snowy trails (about 20 min).

The lodge is located in Val Duron, one of the four Ladin valleys in the Fassa Valley area, nestled among the Dolomite rocks of Sasso Piatto and Catinaccio (a UNESCO World Heritage Site).

You can choose from two different options (Drinks not included):
- Single Dish: one dish from a first or second course chosen from the menu and dessert.
- Full Menu: an appetizer, a single dish between first or second course chosen from the menu and dessert.

Among the specialties of the lodge you can choose first courses such as tagliatelle with venison ragout or porcini mushrooms, the trio of dumplings (spinach speck and cheese). Otherwise we recommend polenta prepared on a wood-burning stove as in the old days and accompanied by rabbit or other condiments such as melted cheese, goulash or mushrooms.

There is a reduced menu for children up to 6 years old.

For the return trip, the guide will take you back to the meeting point.

The Franzin Alm mountain restaurant is located in Carezza, in the autonomous province of Bolzano. Easily accessible by car, it allows you to taste authentic, seasonal cuisine while admiring the UNESCO World Heritage landscapes of the Dolomites.

In a modern facility, the wood of the furniture and the aroma of the cuisine will be able to give you a perfect South Tyrolean-style experience.

Both traditional and innovative dishes are prepared with local and seasonal ingredients from local farms. It will be possible to taste them by choosing one of two menus, which may be subject to some variation depending on seasonal products.

• Saddle of venison in walnut crust with celeriac puree and vegetables.
• Almond and mascarpone cake with homemade banana ice cream.

• Potato gnocchi with venison ragout.
• Braised beef of the day with mashed potatoes and vegetables.
• Apple strudel.

For the little ones there is a choice of children's menus:

• Pasta with tomato sauce or meat sauce.
• Milanese schnitzel with chips.

The activity includes ascent by snowmobile/snowcat, followed by an atmospheric night snowshoeing with headlamps followed by dinner at a mountain hut where you can enjoy typical Trentino dishes with a sled or snowmobile ride depending on the possibilities. Itineraries vary each week. The sledding descent is optional and not provided for all itineraries.

Hiking boots or after-ski boots are required for all snowshoeing in the Fassa Valley and it is recommended to bring a backpack with a wind/rain jacket, water bottle and snacks.
