The 2 best Snowshoeing Hikes in the Fassa Valley

Dog trekking with huskies in the Brenta Dolomites, departing from Pinzolo and in the company of fantastic Alaskan Malamute specimens.

The activity consists of a real snowshoe hike on easy, level trails, also suitable for children of any age, tied to the dogs via a harness and an elastic rope.

The ideal routes for this activity are Malga Ritorto, with departure and arrival at the Patascoss parking lot, or Malga Mondifrà, with departure and arrival from the Grostè parking lot. At the Malga you can have lunch or dinner, upon request (the cost of lunch or dinner is not included in the price).

The dogs, in addition to affection and companionship, will help you in reaching your goal through their pulling power.

Children under 10 years of age, for safety reasons, are paired with a parent, while toddlers can be carried in suitable backpacks by a parent or our guides to enjoy the affection of our Alaskan Malamutes during breaks.

The equipment we recommend is as follows:

•    backpack

•    warm, waterproof shoes (wide-fitting après-ski boots not recommended)
•    water bottle and snack
•    sunglasses

The use of snowshoes is subject to weather conditions; in case of ice, the facility may opt to use crampons.

Snowshoeing in and around Paganella in Andalo is a unique opportunity to discover the Dolomites in Trentino by walking together with a snow guide. The starting point of all hikes is Andalo and you can choose from 3 different activities.

Half Day

On the Monday walk, you will head into the snow-covered forests of the Dolomites in the Lava resort for a relaxing morning hike.

For the Thursday and Saturday afternoon hikes, your guide will take you for a high altitude hike in Paganella, specifically to Conca d'argento and Sant'Antonio.

The minimum age to participate is 8 years old.

Evening

On Tuesdays you will go up to high altitude with the lifts (not included in the price) where the experience will begin. The snowshoe hike will be at Sant'Antonio Pass and you will be able to watch the sunset at the "Croz del Rasàr" viewpoint. During the walk you will also have the opportunity to have an aperitif at the refuge (not included).

On Saturday the walk will be at Prati di Gaggia and you will reach a chalet where you will have an aperitif and a dinner of typical products (not included in the price and to be booked separately). At the end of the dinner you will return to Andalo with the lifts.

Minimum age to participate is 10 years.

Full day

On Wednesday morning, you will traverse the dense snow-covered forests and travel to the Pradel Molveno plateau in the Brenta Dolomites. Lunch will be at the refuge (not included in the price) or packed lunch. The duration of the activity is 7 hours.

The minimum age to participate is 14 years.

Appropriate mountain hiking clothing is required for all hikes and bring snacks and water.

An ideal winter outing to enjoy the scenic beauty and enjoy outdoor activities in the snow. You will have the opportunity to take a fantastic snowshoeing trip in the woods of Madonna di Campiglio, surrounded by breathtaking views. Both group and private snowshoeing tours are available.

Private Tour

The 2-hour private tour allows a walk around Malga Ritorto and possibly lunch (not included in the snowshoe hike and to be booked by phone). Departure is at the patascoss parking lot. Once there, you will have lunch while the guide returns. You will return independently.

For the day snowshoeing, the route will be decided with the guide, who will organize the excursion in the best way according to your needs.

Group tours

Group tours are available daily at 9:30 am and 1:30 pm and last about 3 hours. The start is in Madona di Campiglio and based on snow conditions the location of the excursion will be decided a week in advance. Among the destinations we can find the hike on Mount Spinale or on the slopes of Pradalago, which gives an impressive view of the Brenta Dolomites and Madonna di Campiglio.

For snowshoeing you need sportswear and hiking boots ( NO MOON BOOTS). We also recommend that you bring a backpack with everything you need to best tackle the snowshoe hike (cap, water bottle and snack).

Group snowshoeing between Moena and Passo San Pellegrino is a unique opportunity to spend a relaxing morning or afternoon in the fresh snow in the Dolomites. The following options are available for snowshoeing.

Half-day (Tuesday, Saturday)

Two-hour afternoon hike from 2 p.m. From the Costabella chairlift, you will hike into the snowy forest surrounding the San Pellegrino Pass alpine lake.

Thursday

For the sunset snowshoe hike you will need to take the Costabella chairlift (not included in the price), then continue to the Paradiso hut where you will stop for a short break. During the walk you will be able to admire the impressive effect of the Enrosadira of the Dolomites.

Friday

The night walk to Passo del Pellegrino starts at 5 p.m. Starting from the Costabella chairlift you will enter the silent forest under the starry sky. At the end of the tour there will be a stop at a mountain hut for apertivo.

Saturday (Full day)

The full-day snowshoe hike starts at approximately 9 a.m. Half will be decided by the guide based on weather conditions. Routes vary between the landscapes of the Fairy Dolomites (Moena), Alpe Lusia and San Pellegrino Pass. A mid-day stop at a refuge for lunch is planned.

Snowshoes are included in the reservation price while the chairlift is payable locally or included with the ski pass.

Snowshoeing by snowmobile at Tre Cime di Lavaredo is a unique and adventurous experience that will take you on a discovery of beautiful snowy landscapes.

The tour involves snowmobiling at Tre Cime di Lavaredo and then a snowshoe hike and sledding descent. It is a peaceful route with beautiful views at the edge of the forest.

The snowshoe hike includes a loop tour, all around Tre Cime di Lavaredo, passing under the dizzying and impressive north walls that rise 550 meters into the sky.

Itinerary description:

•    Upon arriving at Rifugio Lago d'Antorno, you rent fast snowmobiles that ascend to Rifugio Auronzo (at 2320 meters) in about 25 minutes. The route you take by snowmobile ends just below the great rock walls of the Tre Cime Di Lavaredo and takes about 30 minutes.
•    The snowshoe hike begins at the Auronzo Refuge and follows the summer trail counterclockwise to the Forcella Lavaredo, a strategic point for a 360-degree panorama of the surrounding mountains.
•    It continues by crossing all the north walls to the Forcella di Mezzo, from which it returns to the Lago d'Antorno Refuge along the Val delle Fontane.
•    For the return trip we recommend a nice toboggan ride that can be rented directly at the start of the hike.

A unique experience to admire one of the most beautiful landscapes of the Dolomites and suitable more or less for everyone (physical condition permitting), requiring no particular effort as the uphill part is done driving the snowmobile, so that one can enjoy the panoramic tour of the Peaks and the descent.

The activity includes ascent by snowmobile/snowcat, followed by an atmospheric night snowshoeing with headlamps followed by dinner at a mountain hut where you can enjoy typical Trentino dishes with a sled or snowmobile ride depending on the possibilities. Itineraries vary each week. The sledding descent is optional and not provided for all itineraries.

Hiking boots or after-ski boots are required for all snowshoeing in the Fassa Valley and it is recommended to bring a backpack with a wind/rain jacket, water bottle and snacks.

Be prepared for a cabin dinner experience with snowmobile transport and night snowshoeing in the Fassa Valley and enjoy a fantastic night in the snow and fairy tale landscapes of Trentino.

Evening with aperitif (Wednesdayì)

Easy snowshoeing in the Fassa Valley immersed in a fantastic winter landscape after sunset. An’exciting snowshoe walk suitable for everyone, colored by the last lights of sunset! After the sun has gone down behind the mountains, headlamps will be used! After the snowshoeing is over, there will be a stop at the hut or restaurant where a relaxing aperitif will be waiting for us. The walk will last about 2 hours, return for 19:00.

Half day (Saturday)

Half-day snowshoe hike in one of the iconic places of the Dolomites. The hike takes place at the Pordoi Pass. The hike will be about 3 hours, return è scheduled for 1 pm. The snowshoe hike è suitable for everyone. After the snowshoe hike, those who want to can take advantage of it to go up with the cable car independently to the top of Sass Pordoi on the Terrace of the Dolomites at an altitude of 2950m.

Full day with lunch (Tuesdayì-Thursdayì-Sunday)

Snow trails are chosen based on weather conditions and require basic physical fitness. This option includes a lunch break at typical huts in the Dolomites where there will be no shortage of traditional local dishes (lunch not included and pay on the spot). The snowshoeing will be about 4 hours plus time for lunch, return è scheduled for 3:30 pm.  

During these snowshoe tours you will be accompanied by mountain guides in total safety. The snowshoeing tours are suitable for beginners.

(Snowshoe rental is not è included but è always to be paid extra (cost 5€) even at’evening excursion with aperitif.)

The experience allows you to discover the Zoldo Valley perfect for stargazing or moonlighting. Snowshoes on your feet, you will traverse the mountain and snowy landscape of the Belluno Dolomites accompanied by a guide. 

After about two hours of walking, you will arrive at Rifugio Su'n Paradis, where you can recharge your batteries by spoiling typical local dishes. Dinner will be paid directly on site.

The experience è suitable for everyone, no need to be an expert. It requires, però two hours of walking with snowshoes on your feet. 

For the experience è winter clothing and hiking boots required. È it is advisable to bring a change of clothes for dinner at the hut.

In case of allergies or dietary needs è it is necessary to contact the lodge.

Snowshoeing in the Dolomites from Selva di Cadore will allow you to immerse yourself in the snowy forests and landscapes. You will have a choice of four different tours.

Evening tour

You will be able to explore the Dolomites at night illuminated by moonlight. Based on the weather conditions you will decide the destination of the hike, the most common ones being the east shoulder of Pelmetto, Val di Mondeval or the slopes of Mount Civetta. Experience available on some predefined dates.

Private half-day tour

During the private half-day excursion, you will be able to decide directly together with your guide the destinations you most prefer. In addition, you will be able to decide whether to snowshoe in the morning or in the evening.

Day tour

This tour will allow you to delve deep into the Dolomites by discovering unspoiled areas. The day tour will allow you to explore the plateau of the Lastoni di Formin up to the Staulanza Pass. Experience available on some predefined dates.

Private Day Tour

With this activity you can customize your snowshoeing to your liking. Together with your guide you can evaluate the best destinations not only from Selva di Cadore but also from Cortina, Val di Zoldo or other locations in the area.

We recommend layered snow clothing, hiking boots, headgear, gloves, backpack to carry a dry change and possible food and water.
