Some Information About Monte Barro Park

Monte Barro Natural Park constitutes an environmental protection area managed by a consortium based in Galbiate. This limestone-dolomitic mountain massif is located between Lake Como, Lake Garlate and Lake Annone.

The area is of considerable interest from a naturalistic point of view, as it is home to an extraordinary diversity of more than 1,000 plant species in an area spread over only 700 hectares.

One of the most important sites within the park is the Piani di Barra Archaeological Park, where it is possible to explore the historical remains of the late Roman fortifications, which were used by the Ostrogoths after the fall of the Western Roman Empire.
