Mount Boletto and Bolettone: Ring Route from Brunate

Starting from Brunate, in the province of Como, you have the opportunity to take a scenic trekking route that will take you to the summit of Mount Boletto (1,235 meters) and Mount Bolettone (1,320 meters).

The loop hike on Mount Boletto and Bolettone

Departing from the paid parking lot located in the CAO square in Brunate, theloop hike on Mount Boletto and Bolettone begins by walking along a mule track that passes near the CAO hut. After about 10 minutes of walking, continue following the signs to Mount Boletto via the ridge.

Here, you follow an easy trail that in about 50 minutes leads to Baita Boletto. Once past it, you reach a first junction where on the right, you ascend to the summit of Mount Boletto, while on the left you proceed in the direction of Capanna S. Pietro and Bocchetta di Molina. Continue, then, taking the left road.

Arriving at Bocchetta di Molina, you will cross the path coming from Mount Boletto, the path going up to Bolettone and route number 1, which is also frequented by mountain bikes. Follow, therefore,route number 1.

Route along the ridge of Mount Boletto

After a few minutes, you will encounter a new fork for the ascent to Bolettone; ignore it and continue following the signs for Bocchetta di Lemna and the Sentiero dei Faggi. When you arrive at Bocchetta di Lemna (1,115 m), continue following the signs for the summit of Mount Bolettone, which you will reach in less than 30 minutes (about 3 hours from the parking lot).

As for the descent, from Bolettone you descend by following the trail to Bocchetta Molina, from which you follow the signs to Boletto. The walking time from summit to summit is about an hour. From the top of Boletto, it takes about 10 minutes to return to Baita Boletto and, walking entirely along the mule track, return to the parking lot in about 50 minutes.

This circular route can also be taken in the opposite direction once you reach Boletto Hut.

During the winter months, the Beech Trail is constantly shaded, which may result in icy sections. Be, therefore, careful if you decide to walk the trail during this time especially if snow is present.

The Refuges of the Route Mount Boletto and Bolettone

There are two huts at the beginning of the trail where you can stop before or at the end of your day in the mountains for a break or a hot meal. At both, you can also stay overnight to extend your stay in the area.

Baita Bond ella is an old structure that includes a bar, restaurant and hotel, overlooking a panoramic terrace with solarium. It can be easily reached either on foot, through a pleasant forest path, or by car, and the access road is suitable for any type of vehicle.
