1. Strolling through downtown
In this small town you will have the opportunity to stroll through the old town, admiring the typical colorful Tyrolean-style houses and shopping in the local stores.
You can also enjoy leavened pastries, pralines, and modern desserts at the Acherer bakery and chocolate shop.
Finally, a short distance away, we recommend you visit the Bruneck Castle, accessible with a ticket from 14 € per person, with the possibility of a guided tour.
2. Trying typical dishes
In Bruneck, you can sample various typical dishes, such as dumplings, alpine cheeses, speck and goulash, at the Plan de Corones mountain hut in Marebbe, which offers two types of menù starting from 45€ per person.
For a’star-studded experience, we recommend the "Atelier Moessmer" restaurant, which reinterprets traditional dishes with a modern twist. The price of "Menù of Tradition" starts from 160€ per person.
Finally, we suggest the "wine shop "Bernardi", where you can discover a selection of labels and enjoy South Tyrolean dishes that vary according to seasonality.
3. Skiing in Brunico
Brunico is home to the Plan de Corones area, ideal for both adults and children, and è one of the most important ski areas in Val Pusteria.
For the little ones, we recommend the Kids Safety Park, which offers numerous playgrounds, ski schools, and fun activities, such as tobogganing.
The cost of the ski pass starts from 70€ per person.
4. Visiting villages
Surrounding Bruneck/Brunico, we recommend you stop in San Candido and Brixen/Bressanone to learn about the local culture.
In San Candido, you can stroll through the old town, visit Villa Wachtler and the centerpiece of the town, Piazza San Michele.
In Brixen, on the other hand, we suggest you visit the Bishop's Palace, the Lords' Garden, the cathedral, and Stufles, the city's oldest quarter.
5. Night in the igloo
We recommend a night in an igloo, an experience that includes a guided snowshoe hike, a stop in the mountain sauna, and a soak in a hot-water tub surrounded by the picturesque snowy landscape. You can then continue the evening with a typical Tyrolean dinner.
È you can choose between a night in the family igloo, which can accommodate up to 5 people, or a night in the romantic igloo, ideal for couples. The price varies between 130€ and 180€ per person, depending on the period.
Appropriate winter clothing is recommended (warm clothes, winter shoes, gloves, cap).
6. Lake trekking
During the summer and spring period we recommend various treks, also ideal for families.
From the starting point, you can follow the sentiero number 19, which leads to the western shore of Lake Braies. The route, which is easy to walk, takes about 1 hour.
We also suggest a trek to the Lake of Anterselva, located 30 minutes from Bruneck. You can hike a trail lasting about an hour and stop at the Restaurant Platzl am See.
7. Air balloon ride
The scenic balloon flight over the Dolomites varies in duration depending on the tour you choose. You can fly over the Val Pusteria for a few hours, ending the experience with a prosecco toast.
Alternatively, you can view Tre Cime di Lavaredo from an exclusive perspective. The crossing of the Dolomites è only available during the winter period. The experience is priced from from 330 € per person.
8. Owl Park San Vigilio
The Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park is home to owls and tawny owls, which are difficult to spot in the wild, but at the foot of the park, in San Vigilio, you can visit the Owl Park, a zoological park.
You can make a visit on your own, or arrange an educational tour with manager and falconer Mario, which is home to more than 40 species of birds of prey from around the world.
