1. Horseback riding by the lake

Starting at the riding stables, you will stroll down to the lake and then ride your horse down to the beach.

You can choose between 2 tours depending on the duration. The price starts from 35€ per person and you will be accompanied by an equestrian guide for the duration of the outing.

The price includes basic riding equipment, but does not include clothing, which is to be considered sportswear (closed shoes and long pants mandatory)

2. Piona Abbey

Piona Abbey is a jewel on Lake Como, dating back to the 7th century, a period in which a monastic community resided. There are two buildings that make up the Abbey: the Church of St. Nicholas and the Cloister.

You can visit the Abbey every day from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm with free admission. In addition, you can buy local products made by the monks

3. Wakeboarding at Como Lake Cable Park

Ideal experience even for first-time wakeboarders.

Unlike wakeboarding in a boat, in this case there are cables (like a ski lift), which you hold onto and tow giving speed.

The price starts at 55€ per person and it is possible to take 15-minute "laps" scattered throughout the day, in which you are always supervised by aninstructor

4. Piona beach

Piona Beach, is one of the most beautiful beaches in Colico. It overlooks Piona Bay and from the shore it is possible to see the Cistercian Abbey of Piona.

This beach has free car parking (Via Logasc) and a kiosk, which also offers bar service, restaurant and kiteboarding school. In addition, lifeguards are also present on weekends

5. Fort Montecchio North

Fort Montecchio North is a structure dating back to World War I and is the best preserved fortress in all of Europe.

From its elevated position, you will have a unique view of the lake and the mountains of Valtellina and Valchiavenna.

It is, moreover, possible to enter and visit the fort by purchasing a ticket at the price of €9 for adults and €5 for children aged 5 to 17.

You can also purchase a cumulative ticket to visit the Fort of Fuentes, a Spanish military building from the 1600s

6. The Wayfarer's Path

The Sentiero del Viandante (Wayfarer's Path) is a trail that follows anancient mule track along the eastern shore of Lake Como. It is divided into 8 stages and the penultimate one is located right in Colico.

You then have 2 options:

  • Starting from Dorio, you can walk about 9.5 km in length and 120 meters in elevation gain to get to Colico in about 3 hours.
  • Or you can start from Colico and ride about 15 km with 115 meters of elevation gain to get to Morbegno in about 4 hours

The trail is relatively easy and is suitable for everyone

7. Windsurfing on the lake

If you are looking for a different sport activity than usual, we recommend that you try Windsurfing.

Windsurfing can be either a quiet sport, skirting the shores of the lake on less windy days, or amore adrenaline-pumping activity for those who like to ride the waves during the windiest days. This is precisely why it is suitable for everyone.

The cost varies depending on the facility and the duration of the activity, but typically includes equipment rental. For beginners, it is also possible to take lessons with instructors

8. Lunch at the Open Cascina farmhouse

Open Cascina is the perfect choice for those who want to get away from the city and breathe some fresh air.

Inside the facility is a restaurant in a secluded and quiet location, surrounded by greenery and nature. It is open every Saturday, holidays and for events by reservation.

The products used for the dishes are km 0, produced in the garden and from the farm's farms. Respect for seasonality and love for the land are the strengths of this place

9. E-bike ride

For bicycle enthusiasts, Lake Como offers many picturesque routes, including some that pass right through Colico.

It is, in fact, possible to choose from a number of routes, which can be ridden on mountain bikes or e-bikes, depending on duration, length or difficulty.

10. The Street Food Festival

From May 31 to June 2, the Street Food Festival organized by the municipality of Colico will be held in Colico's Piazza Garibaldi.

From 10 a.m. to midnight it will be possible to enjoy excellent dishes, sweet and savory, from the Italian tradition and beyond.

11. Canoe or SUP ride

Among the various activities offered on the beaches of Colico, you cannot miss a canoe or SUP ride.

12. Wine tasting in Domaso

This winery wine tasting is about a 20-minute drive from Colico and includes a walk through the vineyards.

The experience offers a visit to the historic family-owned wineries and a tasting of 3 selected home-produced wines. The cost starts at €30 per person for tasters and €5 per person for non-tasters.
