1. Punta Molentis Beach: Jewel of Cape Carbonara

Punta Molentis beach, is one of the pearls of southern Sardinia. It is characterized by the presence of huge granite rocks, and very fine sand.

Punta Molentis is easily accessible and has essential services, such as parking and refreshment facilities. There are facilities on the beach where swimming equipment can be rented for boats. 150 places have been reserved by reservation, and for the remaining places only the order of arrival is respected. Reservations are made by logging on and registering at the website.

To reach Punta Molentis, take the road to Costa Rei and then the Accusi is Prezzus municipal road, continuing straight until you meet near a curve the dirt road leading to the Punta Molentis parking lot, which costs 10€ per day for cars.

3. Pink flamingos in Notteri Nature Park

Notteri Pond is located in the narrowest part of the Capo Carbonara peninsula and is separated from the sea by a strip of fine sand, the beach of the same name, also known as the Junk.

Pink flamingos have a natural habitat in the pond, making it a popular attraction. For an ideal experience, it is recommended to move around on foot, bicycle or horseback, but the trail is not approved for cars, which will have to be left either along the road or in a large paid parking lot.

Notteri Pond can be reached from Cagliari by driving along Provincial Road 17 to the junction for Campulongu, where you turn right towards Porto-Capo Carbonara. At the Porto turn left and proceed to the pond.

4. Cala Pira

If you are around Villasimius, you cannot miss a day at Cala Pira. The sea, thanks to its natural conformation, remains almost always calm, making the beach perfect for families with children.

To get there from Cagliari, take the SS125var to the junction for Castiadas-Costa Rei, then follow the road that leads directly to the parking lots near the beach.

Parking costs 6€ and is not very large, so it is recommended to go early. On the beach there is a kiosk that rents umbrellas and sunbeds and a truck behind it buy bibitte or snacks

5. Trekking at Porto Giunco Tower

If going to Villasimius and you are fond of trekking the walk to Torre di porto Giunco is for you.

The walk takes about 20 minutes and it is recommended to bring comfortable shoes because of some of the somewhat steep and slippery spots. The top of the promontory can be reached on foot from Porto Giunco beach or from Cava di Usai by walking along paths that wind through the Mediterranean scrub.

Once the walk is over, you can relax at Porto Giunco beach, which is easily accessible from the parking lot. Parking at the beach costs €5 per day.

6. Snorkeling at Cape Carbonara

If you love snorkeling, the protected park of Capo Carbonara will leave you speechless. You can book boat trips during which there are stops to do snorkeling accompanied by experienced and passionate local guides.

The activity is suitable for everyone and you will be able to admire unique life forms that inhabit Cape Carbonara. Prices start from 50€ per person and include snorkeling equipment. Excursions last around 5 hours, and it is possible to effetturale either in the morning or in the afternoon. Excursions depart from the marina in Villasimius.

7. Water sports at Cape Carbonara

Discover fun at sea at Capo Carbonara where canoes, kayaks and Stand-up Paddle Boards (SUP) can be rented.

8. Quad bike tour in Villasimius

Get ready for a quad bike excursion starting from Porto Giunco. The tour will pass through Notteri Pond, habitat of pink flamingos, and the pine forest of Porto Giunco to reach Cala Burroni.

Punta Molentis will be one of the most fascinating stops, followed by a dirt path to Cala Pira for a morning swim. Comfortable and sporty clothing, sneakers and comfortable pants are recommended. For those who wish to swim, it is recommended to bring a beach towel.

9. Villasimius Archaeological Museum

The museum is housed in a nineteenth-century rural house and collects archaeological evidence of the Villasimius area from the Nuragic Age to the Middle Ages.

Of particular interest is the exhibit devoted to underwater finds along the coast of Villasimius. On display are some cannons and part of the cargo from the wreck of the Isola dei Cavoli, a Spanish ship that was wrecked around the 15th century. Other underwater finds are also illustrated with reconstructions of the original environments of artifacts related to Phoenician and Punic ships and cargoes of Roman and Vandal-era vessels.

The museum is located in the center of Villasimius and is open every day except Monday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets cost €3.
