If you are looking for locations to go to the mountains with children, here are some perfect ideas for all seasons of the year.

1. Valtellina: Livigno and Bormio - Lombardy.

For the summertime, in addition to the various hiking trails, we recommend an alpaca walk, with prices starting at €20 per person for adults and reduced prices for children.

Other summer options are the Larix Park, an adventure park, and the Bike Park, a downhill park, perfect for those who love adventure.

During the winter, on the other hand, you will find snowparks in Livigno and Bormio with options even for the little ones. Finally, you can never miss the various ice skating rinks such as at the Palaghiaccio in Bormio.

2. Asiago Plateau - Veneto

If you want to spend a summer day with your children on the Asiago Plateau, you can visit the Cason delle Meraviglie, or an educational farm where you can pamper the animals.

The gnome village is a cute child-friendly trail open from 10:30 am to 6 pm in the summertime. The entrance fee is 10€ per person over 3 years old.

Another option for the summer period is the 2-hour dog trekking walk, which is also perfect for children ages 8 and up. The price starts from 35€ per person.

For winter, on the other hand, you can evaluate the Kaberlaba tourist area, within it there are slopes for skiing, snowboarding, sledding and bobsleighing. The price starts from 20€ per day for children and 25€ per day for adults.

3. Val di Fassa - Trentino

For a hot summer day, theVidor Aquapark can be a perfect idea for young and old alike. With several indoor pools, an outdoor pool, 3 slides, relaxation area and indoor bar, the aquapark also offers family packages that start at €37.

Some summer options to experience the outdoors can be Fassa Park and Ciampark, both children's play areas with free admission.

For the brave, it is also possible to try the Fly Line, which is an aerial circuit similar to a zipper line that passes through the woods. Everyone can participate, adults and children from 15 to 120 kg with a cost starting at about 15€ per person.

Finally, during the winter season, you can take your children to try a cabin dinner. Transportation is by snowmobile and the cost depends on the menu selected; there is also a children's menu.

4. Courmayeur - Aosta Valley

One of Courmayeur's best attractions, especially in winter, is the Mont Blanc Skyway. At 3,400 meters above sea level, it offers breathtaking views that will leave your children speechless. Prices start at 56€ per person and there are family packages.

In summer you can take an e-bike tour of the valleys near Courmayeur. You can choose between a half-day or full-day tour and prices start from 45€ per person for adults and 40€ for children.

Dolonne Fun Park is an amusement park where you can find different activities for children. In winter you can rent bobsleds, sleds and skis to go down the slopes, while in summer you can find trampolines, mini quads, inflatables and many other games.

Finally, a new play area has been opened in Bollino Park, ready to entertain the little ones.

For the winter, we also recommend a cabin dinner with snowmobile transport to have a real mountain experience.

5. Alpe di Siusi - Trentino

In summer, various walks and hikes can be taken at Alpe di Siusi, following themed trails to entertain young and old alike. In addition, you can swim in the Laghetto di Fiè, one of the cleanest swimming lakes in Italy.

Also for summer 2024, the"journey into the past" at Prösels Castle will be offered again, in which children are accompanied through the rooms of the castle by the knight Frederick and the witch Martha, who will tell the children about the Middle Ages.

For the winter season, we recommend a horse-drawn sleigh ride lasting 1 or 2 hours, with prices starting at 15€ per person.

Finally, if you are a snow lover, you cannot miss the area on the Alpe di Siusi , which offers plenty of slopes for skiing, sledding, or eating in a mountain hut.

6. Cortina - Trentino

For summer, there is a playground for children called Socrepes Play Park, with swings, slides, swings, Zip Line and more. The play area is free access, while you have to pay for a chairlift ticket to go up.

You can also go on several hikes, among which we recommend the one to Fanes Falls. It requires a guide and specific equipment, but will allow you to walk behind the waterfall firsthand.

8. Val di Fiemme - Trentino

For the summer time we recommend a carriage ride in Cavalese, perfect for the whole family and with a price starting from 15€ per person.

Another good idea in both summer and winter is theAlpine Coaster Gardonè, which is a loop circuit on which you slide thanks to a bobsleigh on rails. It is suitable for everyone, even children with a height of at least 105 cm, accompanied by an adult.

Also, in both summer and winter, you can take your little ones to the playground on Mount Cermis called Cermislandia. The cost to access the playground starts from 14€ per person for 1 hour.

For winter, in addition to the ski and snowboard slopes, we recommend the toboggan runs and snow park at Passo Lavazè.

9. Sappada - Friuli

During the summer you can take your children to the Sappada Alpine Wildlife Park where you can see deer.

There is also theSappada Adventure Park consisting of 3 parts: the tree adventure park , the educational farm and the bike park. You can buy tickets for a single attraction, 2 or all of them.

For the winter season, there is a large snow playground called Nevelandia with slopes for inflatables and bobsleds or mini bike trails. The cost of daily access starts at 25€ per child.

Finally in winter, children from 7 years old and up can go up as walkers and enjoy a beautiful snowmobile ride in the Sappada woods.

10. Hundred Lakes Park - Emilia Romagna

Parco dei Cento Laghi offers many trails for hiking during the warmer seasons. To visit the park with children, we recommend the easy walks that offer excellent views of the Apennines. Some of the routes are also bikeable.

During the winter, if there is enough snow, you can do some winter sports such as snowshoeing, skiing, cross-country skiing, and snowboarding.

11. Alagna Valsesia - Piedmont

On the Sesia River, rafting schools organize a "water baptism" for young children, having them ride a short stretch of river on an inflatable boat, accompanied by experienced guides.

The Village of Tokji is a child-friendly village, with houses, swings, slides, small rope walls to climb and many other games with access is free and free. 12. Gran Sasso - Abruzzo

Another option is to visit the Alpine Botanical Garden dedicated to the flora that grows at high altitudes.

It is also worth visiting some of the medieval villages that are located in the vicinity of the mountain. For example, we recommend Castel del Monte and Santo Stefano di Sessanio, which are particularly well cared for. Rocca Calascio is also worth mentioning among the attractions of medieval origin.

In summer it is also possible to take a canoe ride on the Tirino River, which is also suitable for children. The cost starts at 15€ per person for adults and 5€ for children.

Finally, during the winter it is possible to ski in the various ski resorts present that offer options even for the youngest children.

13. Val Masino - Lombardy

Val Masino also offers several hiking trails. For example, in Val di Mello trails run alongside streams, waterfalls and small lakes; the route from Cataeggio to San Martino is also passable by bicycle or with a stroller; and the Sentiero dei Borghi (Village Trail) runs through the various villages in the valley.
