1. Useful information

The Cala Girgolu beach does not è have a closed number and do not require a reservation to gain access.

It has a shallow seabed and fine sand mixed with pebbles crumbled by the surrounding granitic rocks, which characterize it.

&Esgrave; a beach also suitable forfamilies with children and people with disabilities sinceè access is simplified by a ramp at the entrance on the left side of the beach.

In addition, the beach features all the main services such as a bar, refreshment stand, sunbed and umbrella rental and more.

2. How to get to the beach

Cala Girgolu è easily reachable by car thanks to a paid parking lot that is a few meters from the beach.

If, on the other hand, you are interested in reaching theTurtle Beach or the other coves along the coast, you will have to equip yourself for a short trekking that runs along the sea.

On arriving at Cala Girgolu Beach you will have to take the road that enters the village on foot and continue in an easterly direction for about 1 km before reaching Turtle Beach.

At the Bulls Beach you have to descend the steps and go to the beach, from here continue on the rocks bordering the sea. The path is not è clearly visible but in some places è marked by signs pointing the way.

Alternatively, you can always opt to reach the coast by sea by renting an inflatable boat, SUP or with organized boat trips.

3. Hints and tips

If you want to stop at the Cala Girgolu Beach, you won't need to bring anything from home since the beach è well equipped and easily accessible.

If, on the other hand, you want to get to the coastal coves we suggest you bring snacks and drinks since there are no services along the coast. Also, we suggest that you use closed shoes for trekking.

Attention also needs to be paid to the parking, as it has reduced capacity and during the high season tends to fill up quickly. We therefore recommend arriving early in the morning to find room for the car and also room on the beach.

If you are in the area, we also recommend that you visit the surrounding beaches since they are of unique beauty, such as the Doctor's Beach, La Cinta, Cala Brandinchi, Lu Impostu and many others in the San Teodoro area.

4. Curiosities

Cala Girgolu, also called Cala Ghjlgolu in Sardinian, gets its name from the "sea lily" found along the coast.

Backing the beach is lush vegetation, typical of the Mediterranean maquis, which includes pines and ginepri. È there is also a natural pond in which various species of birds can be observed.

The Turtle Beach, takes its name from the rock present in turtle shape formed by natural erosion. This particular attraction è one of the most photographed rocks in all of Sardinia.

5. Activities in the area

In the main beach of Cala Girgolu è you can rent pedalò and canoes with which to explore the coast. The cost varies depending on the season, but is around 20€ per hour.

È it is also possible to rent dinghies with or without a skipper that will allow you to push a little further out to sea and get as far as Tavolara Island.

If, on the other hand, you prefer to opt for an organized excursion, you can book in advance some direct trips just to the'Isle of Tavolara and Molara that also include stops for swimming in the sea with the possibility of snorkeling.
