1. Lake Iseo: Boat tour with aperitif

In Iseo, a 40-minute drive from Bergamo, it is possible to take boat trips to the islands of the lake, such as Monte Isola, Loreto and San Paolo.

The duration of a boat tour varies from 1 hour to a full day, with prices starting at €45 per person. On the Lake, it is also possible to have an aperitif on a boat at sunset or a sailing tour, with prices ranging from 45€ to 60€ per person.

5. Cornello dei Tasso: a medieval village

Cornello dei Tasso is a medieval village located in the Brembana Valley. To reach it, it is necessary to walk about 20 minutes along the ancient medieval merchants' route, the Mercatorum, which connects the village of San Giovanni Bianco to Cornello.

Here it is possible to take a horseback ride to Oneta, a nearby village that houses the Harlequin House Museum, or visit the small museum in Cornello dedicated to the Tasso family, inventors of the postal system.

6. Park of the Hills: 5,000 hectares of nature

The Bergamo Hills Park covers an area of about 5,000 hectares in eleven municipalities and offers an extensive network of trails ideal for horseback riding or cycling for adults and children.

The Park offers many trails for hiking from Maresana Hill to Moretta Castle, ranging in duration from 30 minutes to 2 hours. The trails are flat and close to parking lots, cafes, and small parks for children.

Within the park you can also visit some community interest sites open to the public, such as Canto Alto and Valle del Giongo.

7. Walk with alpacas on the Serio River

A different experience to have near Bergamo is an alpaca walk on the Serio River in Romano di Lombardia.

10. Crespi d'Adda

11. Sarnico

Sarnico is a village on Lake Iseo where you can take walks along the lakefront and through the historic center.

If you want to take a walk along the lakefront, you cannot miss the panoramic steps, the wooden gazebo and the Lazzarini Park, which is loved by children. Alternatively, you can visit the historic center with its square, where markets and cultural events are often held.

Sarnico is also famous for the Riva boatyards and beaches for swimming.

12. Astino Monastery and former Valmarina Abbey

Not far from the Upper City, two historic sites in Bergamo are the Astino Monastery and the former Valmarina Abbey.

Astino Monastery, in western Bergamo, was founded in the 12th century and features striking cloisters and historic architecture of barrel and cross-vaulted naves. It is open every Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 09:30 to 17:30.

The former Valmarina Abbey, part of the Bergamo Hills Park, tells the story of the nuns who lived there. Guided tours are available every half hour from 09:30 to 12:00, free every Wednesday at 10:00 by appointment.

13. Mountain village of Clusone

Clusone is a mountain village at 600 meters above sea level, renowned for its historic center and annual Jazz Festival.

When visiting Clusone you can see medieval frescoes, such as those in the Oratorio dei Disciplini, and the planetary clock on the Civic Tower. The Tower is accessible free of charge Tuesday through Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
