1. Trying typical dishes
La Thuile è also known as the "country of chocolate". In fact, we suggest you make a stop at the Chocolat pastry shop, run by the Collomb family.
This pastry shop offers the "Tometta di La Thuile", a chocolate named after the shape of the famous local cheese.
We also recommend that you try the lardo d’Arnad lard and Valpellinese soup at the tavern Coppapan.
2. Skiing in La Thuile
La Thuile is part of the San Bernando ski area, which è also connected to French ski resorts. In fact, thanks to its strategic location, you can ski on several slopes, with a daily ski pass, starting from 56 euros per person.
For the younger ones, we recommend the snow park Espace San Bernardo, while for adrenaline sports lovers we recommend the'heliski, an experience that consists of'being transported by helicopter to mountains or peaks that are difficult to access, and then descending down snowy slopes with skis on your feet.
3. Dinner in a mountain hut with snowcat transport
We recommend a dinner at a mountain hut that can be reached by snowmobile or snowcat, where you can taste traditional dishes at an altitude of 2,000 meters.
At arrival you will be welcomed with an aperitif under the stars with mulled wine, followed by a set menu with a cost starting from 105€ per person.
Finally, we suggest a dinner on the ski slopes, at the hotel Kings of the Alps, with transportation included. The dinner menuù includes 4 courses, starting from 110€ per person.
4. Spending a day at the spa
A few minutes drive away, we suggest you relax at Qc Terme Prè Saint Didier. The facility offers wellness packages, as well as customized experiences.
You can choose from different massages, with varying durations, such as anti-stress massage or traditional couples massage.
The facility is open daily and the cost starts from 46€ per person. Alternatively, we also point you to QC Terme Monte Bianco, located just minutes from Courmayeur.
5. Trekking to Rutor Falls
During the summer season, we suggest a trek to Rutor Falls and the Ice Lakes, to admire the alpine landscapes.
The path has an intermediate difficulty and a duration of about 4 hours.
For those who prefer a more easy trail, we recommend starting from La Joux, 3 km from La Thuile. From here, you can take a trail that, in about 20 minutes, leads to the first of the three Rutor waterfalls.
6. Snowshoeing on Mont Blanc
The experience begins by reaching Punta Helbronner by skyway cable car, where the mountain guide will give a quick briefing.
Initially you will stay on the viewing terraces and the guide will give directions to the surrounding landscape.
Based on weather conditions, the destinations are Col du Toula, Col de Rochefort or Colle Entreve.
The price of this experience (including cable car ticket and equipment rental) starts from 150€ per person.
7. Horse riding in Saint Pierre
Throughout the year, 30 minutes from La Thuile, you will have the opportunity to go horse riding in the conca di Vetan.
The instructor offers two different tours: the approximately 1-hour walk and the half-day walk. The second tour allows you to explore different valleys and includes a stop for a lunch break.
The cost of the walk, starts from 55€ per person, inclusive of insurance and riding equipment.
