1. Trekking at Lake Braies

During the summer time we recommend this trekking, also ideal for families.

From the starting point you can follow trail number 19, which leads to the western shore of Lake Braies. The route, which is easy to walk, takes about 1 hour.

At the end of the trek, you can have a picnic along the lake or stop at one of the rest stops. During the winter time, we recommend that you admire the frozen lake and take a walk along the lake.

2. Visiting the huts

In Braies you will be able to taste various typical dishes and cheeses, among mountain huts, alpine pastures and dairies. You will have the chance to taste the typical Pragser Stange, a cheese characterized by a unique rind.

In the area we recommend the dairy Lechernof, which offers guided tours, educational activities and workshops dedicated to the secrets of making dumplings.

3. Helicopter ride

We recommend a helicopter ride, a perfect opportunity to get a bird's eye view of Lake Braies and beyond.

In fact, you can choose from 3 different tours: the first one, lasting 15 minutes, over Lake Braies, which can be done in groups or privately, starting from 130€ per person. Or you could opt for the 30-minute tour over the Tre Cime di Lavaredo.

Finally, we recommend the 45-minute Dolomites Tour, during which you can fly over Lake Braies, Prato Piazza, Three Peaks of Lavaredo, Cortina and other destinations.

4. Rent a boat on Lake Braies

During the summer, La Palafitta, at Lake Braies, offers the opportunity to rent, without reservation, a boat to sail on the lake.

In addition, it offers experiences such as the Bike and Boat Experience, which includes renting an e-bike from the Monguelfo station and a 45-minute boat experience.

The cost of the experience starts from 15&euros; per person, while, from 69&euros; per person, è you can also include bike rental.

5. Visiting San Candido and Brunico and Cortina d'Ampezzo

In San Candido, you can admire elegant brick-built Alpine-style buildings, such as Villa Wachtler, Saint Michael's Square, or visit the small cemetery next to the Collegiate Church.

We also recommend that you stop at Brunico, a small Tyrolean village a 30-minute drive away. Here you can visit the Castle of Bruneck, accessible with a ticket from 14€ per person.

Finally, for shopping and adrenaline experiences, we suggest Cortina d'Ampezzo. Here you can try a snowmobile ride or a snowshoeing to Passo Giau.

6. Try the Kaiserschmarrn

Kaiserschmarrn, the emperor's famous dessert, è a kind of sweet scrambled eggs, similar to broken pancakes, served with cranberry or currant jam.

You can enjoy this typical Tyrolean dessert at the Malga Foresta, which can be reached on foot from Lake Braies by following a marked trail in about 30 minutes.

Also, in the area we recommend you visit the'Alpe Praga Shop, where you can find the perfect jam or syrup to accompany this dessert.

7. Visit Lienz

We recommend, finally, a stop in the Austrian municipality of Lienz, a 50-minute drive from Braies. Here you will have the opportunity to stroll through the alleys with colorful houses, visit the castle of Bruck, but not only.

In fact, we suggest you visit the Museum Loacker, where you can discover the novelties and participate in the tactile workshops dedicated to the mostù little ones.

The cost of’activityà starts from 10€ per person.

8. Magical Forest World

.A 15-minute drive away, in Dobbiaco, you can visit the Mondo Magico della Foresta, a theme park ideal for families.
