1. School closures May 1st, 2025

In 2025 between Easter, April 25 and May 1° there are several vacation days for Italian students.

May 1° this year falls on Thursday and because of this, schools throughout Italy will remain closed on Thursday 1st and Friday 2nd making a 4-day bridge.

2. Tuscany

Tuscany offers several options for those who want to spend a few days of vacation not too far from home.

In fact, you can decide to visit a city such as Florence, Siena, Pisa or San Gimignano with related historical and cultural visits.

Alternatively, we suggest you opt for some inland areas that are worth visiting such as the Chianti, the Maremma or the Val d'Orcia. Here you can have a wine tasting, a picnic in the vineyard or a Vespa ride.

3. Liguria

If you love the sea, you could go for a short trip to Liguria. Here you will have the opportunity to combine walks along the waterfront, with visiting the small villages that dot it.

Among the various towns and cities present, we recommend seeing Sestri Levante with its Bay of Silence, Camogli and its colorful little houses, Varazze and Bordighera.

Of course, we cannot forget to recommend the Cinque Terre, which tend to be less crowded this time of year than in summer, or Portofino.

4. Piedmont

In Piedmont you might opt to visit a cityà such as Turin or Cuneo, where you can spend a couple of days.

Alternatively, we suggest you visit the Monferrato, the Langhe and the Roero. Here you could have a wine tasting or a picnic in the vineyard to taste the many local wines.

There are also numerous farmhouse lunches that make Piedmont a perfect destination for day trips as well.

5. Veneto

The Veneto è also a great destination for wine lovers and that's why we suggest you visit the Valpolicella and the Valdobbiadene to taste some of the most renowned Italian wines.

Alternatively, you could take a stroll on the Lake Garda in some localities such as Peschiera del Garda, Bardolino and Garda.

We cannotò not also suggest a visit to the moreù classic Venetian cities such as Verona and Venice, perfect for a romantic or family weekend.

6. Lombardy

Lombardy, as obvious as it may be to some or of little interest to others, hides within it some Italian jewels.

In the first place we cannot fail to mention the Lake Como with its pearls such as Bellagio, Varenna, Menaggio and Como. Another lake in Lombardy underestimated by many è is the Lake d'Iseo, which has forò a unique charm.

Among the citiesà to visit we undoubtedly recommend Milan, Bergamo, Mantua and Pavia, where è you can make a day trip or spend a few days.

For those who prefer to get away from the chaos of the city à, we recommend you spend a couple of days in Franciacorta, perfect destination for those who want to relax.

While, for those who love the mountain, we recommend exploring the Valtellina, among typical foods such as pizzoccheri, bresaola or polenta, and high-altitude trekking between Chiesa Valmalenco, Livigno or Bormio.

7. Latium

Lazio, best known because of Roma, actually holds a lot of places perfect for a weekend getaway.

Among the most fascinating destinations there’è surely Civita di Bagnoregio, the “dying city”, a village suspended in time, and Orvieto, a few kilometers from the Umbrian border, with its majestic Duomo.

For those seeking relaxation between nature and art, the Lake Bolsena è an ideal destination, with villages such as Marta and Capodimonte overlooking its tranquil waters.

Other recommended stops are Tivoli, with the splendid Villa d’Este and Villa Adriana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Viterbo, with its free spas nestled in the countryside.

Finally, for lovers of the sea, the Latium coast offers resorts such as Sperlonga and Gaeta, with striking beaches and Mediterranean views.

8. Campania

The Campania è a region rich in history, sea and flavors, perfect for a weekend between natural and cultural beauty.

An unmissable visit to the Amalfitan Coast, with its villages suspended over the sea such as Amalfi, Positano and Ravello, amid postcard views and artisanal limoncelli.

Naples è a must to experience the authenticity’campana: between a real pizza, the waterfront and the wonders of the historic center.

For a nature-filled weekend, we recommend the Cilento National Park or an excursion to Vesuvius, perhaps stopping at the excavations of Pompeii or Herculaneum.

9. Apulia

The Puglia è one of the most fascinating Italian regions, perfect for a weekend getaway among crystal clear sea, white villages and authentic flavors.

Don't miss the Valle d’Itria, with its trulli of Alberobello, the narrow streets of Locorotondo and the elegant charm of Martina Franca. Moving toward the sea, Polignano a Mare and Monopoli offer breathtaking views and excellent fresh fish.

For those looking for a more’relaxed atmosphere, the Salento è ideal: from Lecce, the “Florence of the South”, to the beaches of Porto Cesareo and Otranto, each corner tells a different story, amid traditions and natural beauty.

10. Sicily

The Sicily è an irresistible mix of millenary history, turquoise sea and cuisine among the most’beloved of Italy, ideal for an intense and evocative weekend.

One of the most fascinating areas è the eastern one: Catania, with its lively character, Taormina with its sea views and the Etna, and Siracusa, rich in Greek vestiges such as the island of Ortigia.

If you prefer the western side, unmissable Palermo, among historic markets and Baroque art, and the area of San Vito Lo Capo and Zingaro Reserve, perfect for those seeking dream beaches and sea-view trekking.
